The Shotgun Driver – Gaming vs. Reality on the Race Track

In our urge to push the boundaries in the world of gaming, we asked ourselves: what would be the ultimate racing game experience? We thought maybe racing a real driver. While riding shotgun in the same car.

So we kitted up the passenger seat of a Mégane Red Bull Edition with a custom built gaming rig, holding a Logitech G27, a 19” screen and an ASUS GTX680 graphic card, running Shift 2. On the 6th of December 2013 we took the beauty to Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for a one lap race between gaming and reality. Wanna know who won?

The Shotgun Driver – Fredrik Brolin

Our Shotgun Driver was basically born with a steering wheel in his hands. Though he’s only 18, Fredrik Brolin has been playing racing games since he got his first steering wheel for his PC T the age of four. When he’s not gaming he’s looking for kicks on real wheels, usually on the gokart track with his friends. Fredrik says he’s totally psyched about racing a real driver from the passenger seat. We are too.

The Engineer – Lars Liljegren

ars Liljegren is the guy who’s going to custom build our gaming rig. He’s a 28 year old engineer from Södertälje, Sweden who loves welding, mending and bending his mind around mechanical problems. When he’s not doing awesome stuff for us at Viagame he builds trucks for Scania. And he’s a gaming enthusiast too, so we trust that whatever he’ll come up with will give our Shotgun Driver the most immersive gaming experience ever.
